Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and Calvary Christian Academy (CCA)

Over the past several years Common Core State Standards (CCSS) have been a driving force in the public school system to help reduce the number of students who are not proficient in specific areas nation-wide. CCSS are standards, not curriculum. At CCA we not only strive to meet these standards but to exceed the requirements. We have chosen to use Bob Jones curriculum because of its excellent academic standards on the state and national level. BJU Press provides every grade level with critical thinking and discernment skills. The Saxon Math curriculum used in grades 5-12 also provides an excellent foundation for success in math. Both BJU and Saxon Math prepare our students for yearly standardized testing that has local and national norms. Terra Nova provides CCA and parents with detailed diagnostic assessments of individual and schoolwide student performance. Our students are prepared and perform well on other standardized testing that includes SAT and ACT assessments.

We are committed to providing a high quality education in a Christian setting for every student as we prepare them for college and career opportunities. CCA meets or exceeds state and national standards by providing a high level of learning and content with our curriculum. We will continue to evaluate our curriculum and to aim high for students to achieve at or above the CCSS.
