Development Office

Dear CCA Family and Ministry Partners,

The 2017-2018 school year marks our 45th year of ministry and the 26th year since the establishment of the development program. The funding gap between the amount school families pay and the actual cost of education has been averaging between 25% and 30%. Over the past 25 years, more than $5.3 million has been raised to benefit CCA and our school families. CCA’s development office continues to promote these alternative funding sources through our Annual Fund, Golf Marathon, and other fundraisers. Last year, our Lord blessed with over $289,000 to help CCA bridge the gap and allow our leadership to freeze tuition prices. Another step of faith is being taken this year with no increase for the second year in a row.

As CCA strives to provide a quality, Christ-centered education for our students, the primary goals of our development program remain the same as in 1992: to better provide for our faculty and staff, to improve our school through our affiliation with the Association of Christian Schools International and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, to upgrade and improve our facilities, and to offer tuition assistance. Through the development program, CCA has been able to supplement teacher salaries, upgrade our educational equipment and facilities, and provide many families with financial assistance.  Last year over $50,000 was awarded to help families who qualify with tuition assistance and scholarships, the biggest part of our development budget.

CCA's student body has been represented by many area churches during the past 44 years. It is wonderful to watch the spirit of cooperation among our area pastors, their church families, and Calvary Christian Academy!  A special thank you to the following area churches who regularly invest in the lives of our young people by supporting CCA in their mission budgets.  They are Berean Baptist Church, Fort Ashby, WV—Pastor Rick Riley, CCA alumnus; Calvary Baptist Church, Cresaptown, MD—Pastors Jeremy Adams and Mike Lashbaugh; Cornerstone Baptist Church, Cumberland, MD—Pastors Dave Hattenfield, Dave McGrew, and Dave Mihailovich and Derek Wheeler, who are both CCA alumni; Calvary Bible Church, Ellerslie, MD—Pastors Greg Miller and Aaron Hostetler, and Pastor Emeritus Ken Korns; God’s Ark of Safety, Frostburg, MD—Pastor Everett Spence and Pastor Emeritus Richard Greene; Faith Presbyterian Church, LaVale, MD—Pastor Lee Capper; The Church Triumphant—Pastor Gene Cecil; and Tri State Ministry Center—Pastor Stevie Leydig, CCA alumnus.  It is great to combine forces with our area churches and community who believe in Christian education and are willing to support it financially and with their prayers. This partnership and outpouring of love for our ministry has made it possible for CCA to continue to provide the Christian families of our area a quality, Christ-centered educational alternative.

Please consider joining in the support of CCA and pray about getting involved by investing in our student body and staff. Our theme for this year is "Raising the Next Generation to be Courageous.”

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.  Joshua 1:9

In His love and service,
